Community Newsletter
The Summer 2026 issue of Community Newsletter will be the last physical edition of the newsletter distributed to local households. All future information updates will be here on the website news page.
Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
The BESS commissioning programme is progressing, and the bulk of associated traffic will end over the summer. The first phase of BESS energisation is planned for the fourth quarter of the year.
The Kent Fire and Rescue Service website includes information for the public regarding solar farms and BESS installations - https://www.kent.fire-uk.org/solar-and-battery-bess
HGV holding area and traffic arrangements
The holding area will close later in the summer as traffic will have reduced to only occasional vehicles which will be the norm during the park’s operational phase. There will be no further escorts for site-related vehicles, and the holding area will be reinstated to its former condition by the end of 2026.
The Construction Traffic Management Group will continue to meet monthly until the final planned meeting which is likely to be in late Summer 2026.
Highway condition survey and remediation
The overall condition of the roads and verges will be assessed when all construction traffic has ceased. We are committed to ensuring that the condition of the roads is at least the same standard as they before construction started, as set out in the CTMP.
Any remediation works arising from construction project activities will be assessed and carried out in association with Kent County Council Highways.
